Eating Disorders
What Does It Feel Like To Have An Eating Disorder?
Having an eating disorder can feel very lonely and isolating. You may try to keep your behaviours a secret because you feel shame and embarrassment about what you do, or because you believe other people will judge you.
You may also give yourself very harsh and critical messages about your body and appearance, making you feel ugly and worthless, and making it very difficult for you to form relationships with others.
You may feel that your disordered eating behaviour gives you a sense of control when life gets a little crazy. You may also feel very conflicted and confused about your eating disorder, knowing that it is unhealthy and unkind to your body, but at the same time unable to imagine life without it.
