What are counselling sessions like?
At EmotionMatters, we know that lasting change starts with time — time to talk, time to feel, and time to explore what’s going on in your life.
That’s why all new clients begin with a 50-minute Initial Consultation. This gives you the opportunity to meet your counsellor, ask questions, and experience the space we offer before deciding to move forward.
If it feels like the right fit, you’ll be invited to commit to 10 hours of counselling time, which you can use in a way that works for you.
Most clients choose:
- 12 x 50-minute sessions
- Weekly or fortnightly appointments
- A focused timeframe to work through specific life issues or emotional challenges
Here’s what to expect from your counselling journey:
- Sessions are 50 minutes in length
- You’ll be encouraged to talk through your concerns, express emotions safely, and reflect on what’s keeping you stuck
- Your counsellor will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and support you with empathy and structure
- Together, you’ll agree on the focus and pace of your sessions
