MindHealth: Time to Heal From the Inside Out

We created MindHealth for people who want more than symptom management. It’s for those who are ready to take time, dig deeper, and work holistically – emotionally, physically, and nutritionally.

Because good therapy takes time – and so does healing the body.

With MindHealth, you’ll receive:

  • 6 x 50-minute therapy sessions (5 hours total)
  • 4 hours of personalised nutritional support
  • A midpoint MDT session with both your therapist and nutritionist
  • Flexible scheduling over a 2-3 month period
  • A joined-up, personalised plan that evolves with you

When we eat well, we think and feel better. When we feel better, we make choices that nourish us. The connection between food, mood, and mental health is real – and powerful. Our team works together behind the scenes to support you as one. With nearly years of experience in integrative care, we’ll help you uncover what’s going on underneath and guide you toward sustainable change – with time, empathy, and expertise.

At EmotionMatters, therapy is delivered through a clear, clinician-led care pathway – discovery, matching, assessment, treatment planning and ongoing review.

HOW WILL THE MINDHEALTH PACKAGE HELP ME?

It is generally accepted that how we feel can influence what we choose to eat or drink (mood to food). It is less well known that what we eat, can affect our mental functioning (food to mood).

There are many explanations for the cause-and-effect relationship between food and mood:

  • Fluctuations in blood sugar levels are associated with changes in mood and energy, and are affected by what we eat
  • Brain chemicals influence the way we think, feel and behave. They are built from healthy food – proteins and essential fats
  • Reactions, insensitivities and allergies to foods can be confusing and unsettling
  • Lack of optimal levels of vitamins and nutrients can compromise pathways in the body and affect our energy levels and how we feel
  • Food stressors like sugar, alcohol, caffeine and chocolate can be damaging to your brain and to your mood

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MINDHEALTH IS FOR ME?

This programme is totally individualised. We will explore through psychotherapy how your thinking, behaviours and the way you manage your emotions affects your eating, exercise, sleep, any addictions, self-care and overall mental health.

The nutrition focus fully explores the root causes of imbalances in the body. This can include investigating nutritional deficiencies and imbalances contributing to overall mental health and wellbeing.

We understand the crucial role of the microbiome in mental health and the importance of optimising gut health. This might include completing a comprehensive stool profile as well as supporting digestion through the use of probiotic, prebiotic and other gut healing foods.

Other functional testing can include assessing your cortisol levels and stress response, or an in-depth look at hormone pathways. Monitoring sleep patterns can also provide useful insight into mental wellbeing.

If you are struggling with some of the above symptoms, or possibly brain fog, low energy, or food reactions, and have a sense that your diet may be affecting your mental health, then let us help you explore your eating patterns.

Our aim is to raise awareness of your food-mood connections and work with you to provide alternative ways of managing food and lifestyle.

Eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables helps to increase your vitamin and mineral intake. Staying well hydrated, with filtered water or herbal teas, is also crucial.

Some of the focus of our nutritional coaching may be around helping you to eat more regularly, focusing on not only what you are eating, but also when you are eating.

We’ll discuss the importance of regular protein intake, getting the right amount of healthy fats, and ditching the processed carbohydrates.
